Objectives
and Policies for Violin Studies
Music lessons should enable students to grow, explore, experiment, expand and refine their musical abilities. However, progress in anything is directly related to motivation and practice, practice, practice! The following practice guidelines are suggested as a plan for advancement in Violin studies. Beginning students: 20-30 minutes daily, 5 days a week. For the first two months this may be broken into two 10 or 15 minute segments (parents are encouraged to use a timer). As the student develops the muscular ability for longer practice periods this should be encouraged. Intermediate students: 30-40 minutes daily, 5-6 days a week. Concentrated periods of practice time are most helpful. It is also helpful to develop a dedicated location, a safe place where your instrument and music can be left set up for practice. This location should be low traffic, free of small children, pets, TV and other distractions.
Advanced students: 60+ minutes daily, 6-7 days a week. Always work on proper form and posture in even the simplest of exercises. Practice in standing position with music stand at proper height. Our objective is to assist you in developing your full potential as a violinist. Practice, Practice, Practice! Lesson Policies Students must bring the following items to lessons every time:
